The meteorological stations have been upgraded at Zvartnots airport in Armenia's capital Yerevan and Shirak airport n the second-largest city of Gyumri, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center said today.

YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. The meteorological stations have been upgraded at Zvartnots airport in Armenia's capital Yerevan and Shirak airport n the second-largest city of Gyumri, the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center said today.

It said the latest generation equipment has been installed at the stations, including thunderstorm detectors as well as new systems for dissemination of aviation meteorological data MESSIR-SADIS.

In addition, about 3 thousand meters long fiber optic cable was laid on the runway of the Shirak airport.

Overall, about 160 million drams were spent on re-equipment and overhaul of the systems.

The Zvartnots and Shirak international airports are run by Armenia-International Airports company, owned by Eduardo Eurnekian, an Argentinean businessman of Armenian origin.

The Syunik airport in Kapan began operating earlier this year after almost 30 years of downtime, Currently two flights are operated between Yerevan and Kapan a week by NorAir company. --0--
