YEREVAN, May 25. /ARKA/. The level of accessibility to and public trust in the office of Armenian financial ombudsperson has grown significantly in recent years, as evidenced by the statistics of complaints, financial ombudswoman Piruz Sargsyan told journalists on Thursday on the sidelines of the seventh international gathering of financial ombudspersons in Armenia that has brought together 130 experts from Great Britain, Ireland, Russia, Italy, Cyprus and other countries.
She said the number of complaints to the office is growing by 20% a year, of which more than 1,600 complaints were sent for written investigation, and about 60% were resolved through reconciliation between citizens and financial structures.
She stressed that about 70% of complaints are resolved in favor of clients, which indicates the possibility of reconciliation and resolution of conflicts between financial structures and individuals through dialogue.
"The Institute of Financial Ombudsman in Armenia has been operating for 8 years already and has gained experience, and now we see the need to develop new methods and approaches to become more accessible to citizens and financial structures," Sargsyan said.
From January 24, 2009 to January 16, 2017 the office of the financial ombudsperson of Armenia received a total of 18 310 complaints against financial organizations, and about 1 billion drams were recovered in favor of citizens. ($ 1 - 482.13 drams). --0--
