Locomotive and rolling stock efficiency improved at South Caucasus Railway

The South Caucasus Railway closed joint stock company significantly increased efficiency of its freight wagons and locomotive fleet in January 2013, the company’s press service reported.

YEREVAN, February 22. /ARKA/. The South Caucasus Railway closed joint stock company significantly increased efficiency of its freight wagons and locomotive fleet in January 2013, the company’s press service reported.
The recent statistics shows that rail car cycle accelerated by 1.2 days or 41.4% in the period, compared to the 2012 level, according to the report. Average car circulation period was 2.9 days.
Average daily car efficiency reached 5148.2 net tons per kilometer per wagon, which is 34.2% higher than in January 2012.
Locomotive fleet efficiency indicators have also been improved. In particular, average locomotive mileage was 364.2 loc-km, which is 3.3% higher than in January the year before.
The company made the achievements owing to its comprehensive measures to improve rail infrastructure and traction-rolling stock for better traffic safety, according to the report.
The South Caucasus Railway cjsc is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railways open joint stock company that is operating Armenian railways under a 30-year concession contract signed in 2008. The contract can be extended for another 10 years. -0-
