YEREVAN, October 16. /ARKA/. Negotiations with the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, which is expected to come to Armenia, are underway, the head of the Civil Aviation Committee Tatevik Revazyan told a news conference today.

“It’s true that we are negotiating with Wizz Air. They are now in the process and are proceeding well,” she said.

Last July, Revazyan had announced that the low-cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air were considering starting flights to and from Armenia. She had said if all obstacles and problems with the purchase of new aircraft were resolved, the companies would simultaneously enter the Armenian market in the summer of 2020.

She said in order to increase the attractiveness of the Armenian aviation market for low-cost airlines, the Civil Aviation Committee developed legislative amendments, which provide for discounts for new air routes, including the removal of the so-called “air tax”.

The Hungarian airline Wizz Air was established in 2003. The company runs  109 aircraft, the average age of which is 5.4 years -0-
