Over the period of its independence Armenia has received more than $500 million from Japan as direct assistance as well as support in implementing reforms, Samvel Farmanyan, an MP from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and the head of the Armenia-Japan parliamentary friendship group, told journalists on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. Over the period of its independence Armenia has received more than $500 million from Japan as direct assistance as well as support in implementing reforms, Samvel Farmanyan, an MP from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and the head of the Armenia-Japan parliamentary friendship group, told journalists on Wednesday.
“Our countries have plenty in common due to historical and geographical factors, historical challenges, scant natural resources and the usage of human resources,” he said at the opening ceremony to the Japanese calligraphy exhibition in the Armenian National Assembly.
In his words, a dramatic progress is seen in relations between the two countries.
Farmanyan also expressed appreciation of Japan’s balanced stance on Karabakh conflict. --0---
