Overchuk: Russian and Armenian governments to show assistance to companies in both countries

YEREVAN, September 20. /ARKA/. The governments of Russia and Armenia will show assistance to the businesses of the two countries so that they develop contacts and trade with each other, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said today when speaking to journalists in Yerevan.

Overchuk is leading a delegation of Russian entrepreneurs who arrived in Armenia to participate in a business forum titled “Armenian-Russian Economic Cooperation. Perspective Projects.’

He said it was noteworthy that the Russian delegation comprised people engaged in production of goods and services, unlike previous such forums when Russian delegation were made largely of representatives of fuel and energy sectors.

“We very much hope that during this business forum new contacts will arise between representatives of the Russian Federation and Armenia, first of all, in the field of infrastructure, information and communication technologies, energy and transport," the Deputy Russian Prime Minister pointed out.

According to Overchuk, this is important for both Russia and Armenia, taking into account the fact that last year was very difficult.

"It was a pandemic year, when a slight drop in trade turnover between our countries occurred. But now we see the bilateral trade having grown by 17% in the first half of 2021. This is very good, but we need to try and do even better," stressed Overchuk.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan said at the forum that in the first half of 2021, the trade turnover between Armenia and the Russian Federation increased by 16% to $1.9 billion. -0-
