Owners of hydro power plants in Armenia are convinced that the new law on environmental control is designed exactly against them, Zhamanak reported on Friday. The think the law is aimed at redistribution of property in this area.

The thing is that the law will allow the environmental inspectors to terminate economic entities' activities if they pose any threat to environment.
The entrepreneurs say this means that the inspection will be able to close any hydro power plant it wants, since all of them threaten environment to a greater or lesser extent.
The mass media reported earlier that the Armenian government intended to amend a great deal the law on environmental control. The aim of the amendments is to empower environmental inspectors to terminate economic entities or individuals' activities immediately if they pose threat to environment. Remarkable is that the activity termination decision will come into force immediately before legal entities appeal to court. --0---
