Pashinyan says construction boom is shaping in Armenia
YEREVAN, March 27. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told the parliament today that by all measures a construction boom is shaping in the country.

When presenting the government’s performance report for 2018 to the parliament Pashinyan cited the 20% growth in the construction sector reported in January and February this year and a serious increase in the mortgage lending. He said year-on-year the mortgage lending in the first month of 2019 grew by more than 70% and by 100% in the second month.

Pashinyan said from May 2018 to this day the local banks’ mortgage lending portfolio has grown by 30% or 70 billion drams.

"This means that citizens have confidence in their future. They invest the money, set aside for emigrating, into the purchase of homes. By all measures, a construction boom is shaping in the country," declared the prime minister.

According to him, property developers are also talking about the imminent boom in the construction sector, which in turn is expected to create new jobs.

According to the National Statistical Committee, the construction sector in January and February 2019 amounted to 25.1 billion drams, increasing by 21.6% when compared to the same period last year.

According to the Central Bank, the mortgage lending to residents of Armenian at the end of February 2019 stood at 264.1 billion drams, which was by 27.3% more than in the same period of 2018. -0-
