Passage on Armenia's longest bridge allowed again

YEREVAN, 11 December. /ARKA/. Traffic on Nor-Hachin Bridge, the longest bridge in Armenia, which spans the Hrazdan Gorge, has been resumed, the Road Department reported.

Traffic on the bridge had been closed since 20 August due to a major overhaul financed by the government. The repair is still ongoing, the Road Department said.

The bridge has a total length of 640m and a width of 14.5m together with the carriageway and pavements.

The crossing consists of metal trestles on the right and left banks. The height of the bridge is 121 metres. The bridge is two-tiered - the lower tier carries the railway and the upper tier carries the motorway.

As part of the overhaul, the top layer of the carriageway is being replaced with asphalt concrete. Waterproofing of overpasses and pavements is also carried out along with building a drainage system.-0-
