Passenger traffic through Armenia’s airports up 11 percent in seven months

Armenia’s Zvartnots airport in the capital Yerevan and the Shirak airport in the second-largest town of Gyumri handled 1,525,537 passengers in the first seven months of 2018, by 11% more than in the same time span of 2017, the country’s Civil Aviation Committee said today.

YEREVAN, August 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Zvartnots airport in the capital Yerevan and the Shirak airport in the second-largest town of Gyumri handled 1,525,537 passengers in the first seven months of 2018, by 11% more than in the same time span of 2017, the country’s Civil Aviation Committee said today.
It also said some 318,585 passengers were handled in 2018 July alone by both airports, by almost 13.8 % more than in 2017 July. More precisely, in July 2018, the Zvartnots airport handled 300,687 passengers, by 11.1% more than in July 2017. The passenger traffic through Zvartnots in January-July 2018 was higher by 7.7% compared to the same period in 2017.
Also about 9,478 metric tons of cargo was transported through the Zvartnots airport in January-July of 2018, down from 12,708 metric tons in the first seven months of the last year.
In July 2018, the Shirak airport handled 17,898 passengers, up from 9,098 passengers handled in 2017 July. In January-July 2018, passenger traffic through Shirak airport rose to 93,986 people from 44,271 people a year before.
Also, the number of arrivals and departures at both airports grew by 11% over the first seven months of 2017.-0-
