Pig farm to be built in Armavir, Armenia; project cost almost $5.5 million

YEREVAN, July 31 — /ARKA/. A pig farm is set to open in one of the villages in the Armavir region of Armenia. The total investment for the project is over 2.09 billion drams (nearly $5.5 million).
On Thursday, the Armenian government approved the investment project presented by Ijevanyan Bacon LLC to build a pig farm in Mayisyan village in the Armavir community. The government's decision provides for the lease of a land plot without a tender (direct sale).
According to the project, the company plans to raise pigs weighing 110 kg live for commercial purposes. The project will create 49 new jobs in the community.
The government justifies this decision by noting that the land plots belonging to the Armavir community, on which the farm is planned to be built, have currently turned into a landfill.
Implementing the investment project will stimulate cooperation between the community and the private sector, eliminate the landfill. -0-
