Price policy in Armenia will not change if France's Carrefour hypermarket uses services of monopolist importers, Aram Sargsyan, Armenian Democratic Party leader, said at a news conference on Thursday.

YEREVAN, March 12. /ARKA/. Price policy in Armenia will not change if France's Carrefour hypermarket uses services of monopolist importers, Aram Sargsyan, Armenian Democratic Party leader, said at a news conference on Thursday.
The official opening of Carrefour took place in Yerevan on March 11. The opening ceremony was attended by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
«If 95% of goods in the hypermarket are Armenia-made, and it means the Eurasian Economic Union space, then it is necessary to specify who will be importers, and if they are the same monopolists and their number doesn't increase, competition and price policy in the country will remain unchanged,» Aram Sargsyan said.
He said it would be more preferable if 40-50% of the supermarket-offered goods were Armenian. Carrefour SA (crossroad Fr.) is a French retail trade company which operates Carrefour retail chain, the second biggest after Wal-Mart.
The matter of Carrefour entry in Armenia was vigorously being discussed throughout 2013.
The supermarket was opened yesterday in Yerevan Mall that occupies 66,000 square meters, of which 10,000 square meters are built up with premises in conformity with Carrefour standards. ---0-----.
