Russian medical laboratory chain Helix plans to enter Armenian market with an investment of $1.6 million

YEREVAN, September 18. /ARKA/. Helix, a Russian medical laboratory chain, has signed a franchise agreement in Armenia. According to the Russian business newspaper Kommersant, the company intends to establish a laboratory complex and at least ten diagnostic centers under this franchise.
The chain's laboratories will initially open in Yerevan, with plans to expand to other regions of Armenia. Investment in the creation of the laboratory complex is expected to exceed 130 million rubles (approximately $1.6 million). The laboratory will conduct various tests, including general clinical, biochemical, immunochemical, cytological, and other tests. However, the results of some complex tests conducted in Armenia, such as genetic or histological analyses, will be sent to the company's laboratory in Moscow for evaluation.
Currently, more than 900 diagnostic centers and Helix Express locations operate under the Helix brand. The company's infrastructure includes seven automated laboratory complexes located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Minsk, and Almaty.
Helix Laboratory Service was founded in 1998 by Yuri Andreychuk. Andreychuk is currently the CEO of Helix Scientific and Production Company and owns 20.41% of the company's shares.
Other shareholders include Helix Nord-West LLC (35.38%), Smart Medical Solutions LLC (25.2%), Pavel Yablokov (10%), and Vladimir Kulikov (9%). Helix Nord-West and Smart Medical Solutions are owned equally by Andreychuk and his deputy, Daria Goryakina.
In 2024, Helix NPF's revenue increased by almost 20% to 15 billion rubles, while net profit fell almost in half to 262.3 million rubles.
Helix currently operates in two countries: Kazakhstan and Belarus. The organization announced its intention to enter the markets of Armenia, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan in mid-2023. Atomic Capital CEO Alexander Zaitsev believes that resuming international expansion into Armenia is a rational decision. According to consulting company Eqiva, the laboratory diagnostics market in Armenia was estimated at 18.8 billion drams (approximately $49 million) in 2024. The average annual growth rate from 2019 to 2024 was 4.5%.-0-
