YEREVAN, June 27. /ARKA/. The head of Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert said the number of Armenian crop produces put in quarantine by members of the Eurasian Economic Union has dropped from 59 in 2022 to 7 in the first 5 months of 2023.

In an interview with Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Dankvert said recalled that due to a number of gross violations this year, certification for supplies to Russia of all Armenian dairy enterprises was suspended.

"We will consider resumption of supplies of Armenian dairy products after we receive information on measures to eliminate the violations," Dankvert said.

Earlier Rosselkhoznadzor removed the ban on imports of dairy products of a number of Armenian companies.

On April 5, Rosselkhoznadzor asked Armenian companies to suspend export of dairy products to Russia. The formal reason for the ban was the use of Iranian milk (banned in Russia) by Armenian dairy companies. It also cited lack of “proper oversight” by relevant Armenian authorities due to which low-quality and unsafe products could be exported to Russia.

The Armenian Food Safety Inspection Authority said the ban was removed after a series of inspections in a number of dairy companies, which showed that the discrepancies identified by Rosselkhoznadzor were eliminated.

The removal of the ban followed an analyses by Rosselkhoznadzor of information provided by the Inspection Authority and the guarantees that Green Prod, Spayka, Alashkert Group and Igit LLC, as well as Araks-2 companies meet the requirements of the legal acts of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union -0-
