Russian veterinary service suspends import of Armenian crayfish
YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. Officers of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) at Moscow Domodedovo airport suspended the import of one ton of live crayfish from Armenia.

The Russian officials explained their decision by the fact that part of the crayfish was not packed as required by veterinary and sanitary norms and besides, the date of production indicated in the veterinary certificate did not correspond to the date of production indicated on the labels.

In 2017 Armenia’s Nature Protection Ministry issued a quota for catching up to 3 thousand tons of crayfish in Armenia's water reservoirs, including 1.1 thousand tons from Lake Sevan. In 2016, the quota was 3.6 thousand tons.

According to Armenian customs service, in the first half of 2017 some 146.2 tons of crayfish were exported, down from 1,192.6 tons in the same period in 2016. -0-
