Seven Russia-based ethnic Armenian businessmen are in the list of the 200 richest business people of that country, compiled by the Russian version of the Forbes magazine.
YEREVAN, April 14. /ARKA/.. Seven Russia-based ethnic Armenian businessmen are in the list of the 200 richest business people of that country, compiled by the Russian version of the Forbes magazine.
They are Samvel Karapetyan, Danil Khachaturov, brothers Nikolai and Sergei Sarkisov, Sergei Galitsky (Harutyunyan), Albert Avdolyan and Ruben Vardanyan. Their total wealth is estimated at about $13.3 billion.
According to the magazine, Sergei Galitsky, the major shareholder (41%) and CEO of Magnit retail chain of stores with $5.7 billion wealth is the richest ethnic Armenian businessman in Russia. He is 17th in the ranking. His fortune is down from $ 8.3 billion in 2015.
The president and owner of Tashir Group Samvel Karapetyan with a wealth estimated at $3.1 billion, down from $4 billion in 2015, is 28th.
Danil Khachaturov, president of Rosgosstrakh insurance company, is 54th with a wealth estimated at $1.4 billion, down from $1.6 billion in 2015.
Vice-president of RESO-Garantia insurance company Nikolai Sarkisov with a total fortune of $0.7 billion, down from $0.9 million in 2015, is on the 124th position. His younger brother, the chairman of the company Sergey Sarkisov also has $0.7 billion and is on the 125th place.
Ruben Vardanyan with a total fortune of $ 0.95 billion is on the 81st place in the ranking, and Albert Avdolyan, the head of the supervisory board of Wooden Fish Agency with a total fortune of $ 0.75 billion is on the 105th position.
The ranking is topped by Leonid Mikhelson, a co-owner of Russian gas companies Novatek and Sibur. His fortune is estimated at $14.4 billion, according to Forbes. Mikhail Fridman, the founder and co-owner of Alfa Group is the second-richest businessman in Russia, with a total wealth of $13.3 billion. Fridman is followed by Alisher Usmanov, the owner of Russia's biggest iron ore producer Metalloinvest, with an estimated fortune worth $12.5 billion.
The leader of last year's ranking metals magnate Vladimir Potanin has been pushed to the 4th place with $12.1 billion. Other Russian businessmen that made it to the ranking are former shareholders of defunct oil company Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev. Forbes estimated the wealth of each of them at $0.5 billion. Khodorkovsky has appeared on the ranking for the first time since 2005. -0-
