Single operator raises water price for Armenian consumers

Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) at a meeting on Wednesday approved a new tariff for supply of drinking water and waste water removal to be charged by the single operator Veolie Jur (Veolie Generale des Eaux).

YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) at a meeting on Wednesday approved a new tariff for supply of drinking water and waste water removal to be charged by the single operator Veolie Jur (Veolie Generale des Eaux).

From January 1, 2017 the single operator will take over the management of five existing water distribution operators - Yerevan - Jur, Armenian Water and Sewerage Company, Shirak Water and Sewage Company, Lori Water Canal and Nor Akunk.

Under PSRC’s decision, the new tariff for retail water services and wastewater treatment to be charged by Veolie Jur will be 180 drams per one cubic meter instead of the current 170.256 drams, including VAT.

At that, the tariff for wholesale supply of drinking water is 18 drams per cubic meter (including VAT), the tariff for the wholesale services of drainage and wastewater treatment is 36 drams per cubic meter. 

The tariff for evacuation of underground water at  Yerevan Metro is 10.8 drams per cubic meter. The new tariffs will take effect from January 1, 2017.

The new single operator of Armenia’s water network will pay 89.75 billion drams for the 15-year license. The company intends also in the next 15 years to invest 80 billion drams in  the modernization of the system. ($ 1 - 483.58 drams). -0-
