Six ethnic Armenians are among 200 richest Russian business people

According to the Russian edition of Forbes Magazine, Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of the Novatek gas producing company, has topped the annual rating of the wealthiest Russians. Mikhelson has been ranked the richest Russian for the second consecutive year with a fortune estimated at $18.4 billion.

YEREVAN, April 20, /ARKA/. According to the Russian edition of Forbes Magazine, Leonid Mikhelson, co-owner of the Novatek gas producing company, has topped the annual rating of the wealthiest Russians. Mikhelson has been ranked the richest Russian for the second consecutive year with a fortune estimated at $18.4 billion. Mikhelson, 61, had increased his wealth by $4 billion year-on-year, 

The list of 200 richest Russians also includes Severstal owner Alexei Mordashov with a fortune of $17.5 billion. Owner of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Factory (NLMK), Vladimir Lisin, comes third with $16.1 billion.

The list includes also six ethnic Armenian businessmen. They are the main shareholder and CEO of Magnit retail network Sergei Galitsky (Harutyunyan), who is 8th with an estimated fortune of $6.8 billion. President and founder of Tashir group of companies Samvel Karapetyan is 32nd with an estimated $3.4 billion wealth. The 48th position is occupied by the president of Rosgosstrakh insurance company Danil Khachaturov with $ 2 billion.

One of the pioneers of Russian social entrepreneurship, investment banker and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan is 99th  with a fortune of $950 million, Albert Avdolyan,  the head of the supervisory board of the Wooden Fish Agency, with a fortune of $ 800 million is 123rd and the head of RESO-Garantiya insurance company  Sergey Sarkisov with a fortune of $700 million is 147th.

The collective wealth of the 200 richest Russian businessmen increased to $460 billion, up $100 billion in a year. The number of dollar billionaires also jumped -- to 96 from 77. "The cost of a ticket" for a place on the Russian rich list reached a record $500 million this year, compared with $350 million a year ago, Forbes said. -0-
