YEREVAN, October 15th. / ARKA /. Armenian small and medium-sized businesses may get government support in the amount of from 5 to 50 million drams, economy minister Karen Chshmarityan said today.
He said the Board of Trustees of the National Centre for Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has adopted a new program to assist SMEs, which is scheduled to begin in the near future.
He said under the program if beginners or operating SMEs invest in their businesses from 5 to 50 million drams, they can get the guarantee of the National Center for the Promotion of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for the same amount.
"This is a serious and well thought-out program and a good tool to support SMEs,’ he said.
He said the authorities are concerned about the small share of SMEs in the overall GDP. The minister said this share should be at least 50%.
He said the task is creating investment incentives for the businesses, which requires a normal business atmosphere for both SMEs and large businesses. -0-
