YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. Some 6,565 enterprises with Iranian capital were registered in Armenia as of June 30, 2022, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Economy Armen Arzumanyan said last week, speaking at an Armenian-Iranian business forum in Yerevan.

The governor of Iranian East Atrapatakan (Azarbaijan) province Abedin Khorram, Iranian businesspersons, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, Trade Attaché of Armenia to Iran Vardan Kostanyan and other Armenian officials were present at the forum held on September 1.

According to data cited by Arzumanyan, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in January-June this year reached $307 million, an increase of 37.3% over the same period last year.

"We expect more intensive growth of trade turnover between Armenia and Iran in the second half of 2022 as well. We are trying to create all the prerequisites to achieve this goal," Arzumanyan was quoted as saying by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Economy.

Arzumanyan singled out the intensification of the official and business cooperation between Armenia and Iran in recent years, noting that the parties may ensure implementation of several joint initiatives and infrastructure projects in the future.

The governor of East Atrapatakan noted that the most important purpose of Iranian delegation's visit to Yerevan is to develop cooperation of the province with Armenia. According to Khorram, the Iranian side aims at increasing the volume of exports to Armenia, contributing to the growth of trade turnover between the two countries.

Iranian companies attending the forum expressed their desire to cooperate with their Armenian partners in such areas as construction materials, footwear, carpet making, food industry (especially milk industry) and others. --0—
