Sour cream with E. coli and yeast fungi: Hetq finds violations in 4 out of 10 samples

YEREVAN, March 23. /ARKA/. The Hetq Association of Investigative Journalists has unveiled the results of another study of 10 samples of sour cream produced by Armenian dairies.
On March 2, 2023, the Association bought 10 samples of sour cream trading as Marianna, Tamara, Biokat, Chanakh, Ashtarak Kat, Arzni Kat, Ani, Marila, Bonilat and Yeremyan Products.
The samples were taken to the Standard Dialogue laboratory in a special refrigerator to preserve the temperature regime. There the samples were placed into sterile containers, numbered and sent for examination.
According to the laboratory examination, 4 samples out of 10, namely Chanakh, Arzni kat, Biokat and Bonilat - didn't meet the requirements.
E. coli bacteria were found in 3 out of 10 samples, namely, in Biokat, Chanakh and Bonilat. An unacceptably high amount of yeast was detected in Arzni kat sour cream. Label violations were detected in 5 samples - Marila, Ani, Bonilat and Yeremyan Products brands.
Earlier, Hetq unveiled the results of a study of 10 samples of cottage cheese traded as Tamara, Marianna, Biokat, Chanakh, Ashtarak Kat, Arzni Kat, Ani, Marila, Bonilat and Yeremyan Products. Only two samples - Tamara and Ani- were found to meet the required standards. The rest were found to contain E. coli bacteria and unacceptably high levels of yeast and mold fungi. --0--
