State Revenue Committee detects tax evasion in especially large amount

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC)  has revealed a tax evasion case with the amount of unpaid tax being 'especially large.'

It said three citizens of Armenia had acquired a large amount of different  medicines in Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey and some European countries, part of which are registered in Armenia and the other part is not registered and imported them into the country bypassing the legislative procedures stipulated by the relevant government decision and the Law on Medicines.

Then these  persons started selling these medicines through pharmacies registered in the name of individual entrepreneurs and various companies for cash and without paperwork. As a result, a large amount of money was not paid as taxes.

The SRC said  the investigation revealed various unsold and unmarked, but subject to labeling, medicines.

As a result of comprehensive tax audits, it was found out that the damage amounted to about 41.6 million drams (about $80,200), which was fully restored during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case. -0-
