YEREVAN, October 6. /ARKA/. Top managers of the Georgian port of Poti on the Black Sea – the newly appointed commercial director Ian Ravlinson (Great Britain) and financial director Julian Andres Fernandez (Colombia) - have arrived in Yerevan to explore the possibilities of cooperation with Armenia and also to learn more about the capabilities of the Armenian forwarding company Apaven, a partner of the port, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Armenia, said today.

According to the executive director of the Apaven company Gagik Aghajanyan, the new management of the Poti port intends to personally get acquainted with the advantages of the Apaven company, its technical capabilities, vehicle fleet, storage facilities, and human resources.

The port of Poti is owned by APM Terminals, a unit of Denmark’s A.P.Moller-Maersk. Apaven has been cooperating with Maersk for over two decades.

The Poti sea port is the largest port in Georgia, handling liquids, dry bulk, passenger ferries and 80% of Georgia’s container traffic. The port serves as a European gateway for international trade in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and is ideally located to become a hub for Central Asia trade.--0--
