Two Armenian companies pledge to invest $200 million in construction of greenhouses and cheese plant

Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said at a government meeting on Friday that two companies – Spayka Holding and Armsunproduct – had asked the municipality to allocate them 163.2 hectares of land near Noragavit neighborhood in Yerevan for the construction of greenhouses and a cheese plant.

YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said at a government meeting on Friday that two companies – Spayka Holding and Armsunproduct – had asked the municipality to allocate them 163.2 hectares of land near Noragavit neighborhood in Yerevan for the construction of greenhouses and a cheese plant. He said the companies pledged to invest a total of $200 million in the construction of both facilities.
He said the greenhouses will occupy a territory of 110 hectares, while the cheese plant is to produce up to one thousand tons of cheese per year. Margaryan said that the companies are supposed to create 1,300 new jobs.
Earlier a Spayka representative said the holding will make $154 million worth investments in 2017. It plans to start a dairy production, expand its orchards and greenhouses. In particular, the company plans to launch production of blue cheese that will be exported to Russia. --0--
