Ukrainian companies would like to set up joint ventures in Armenia

Some Ukrainian companies would like to establish joint ventures in Armenia, Dmitry Kolesnikov, head of the Ukrainian State Agency for Management of State Corporate Rights and Property, said to journalists in Yerevan today after the sixth session of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. According to Kolesnikov, the two sides agreed that in addition to trade, they should develop also technologic cooperation.

YEREVAN, November 19. / ARKA /. Some Ukrainian companies would like to establish joint ventures in Armenia, Dmitry Kolesnikov, head of the Ukrainian State Agency for Management of State Corporate Rights and Property, said to journalists in Yerevan today after the sixth session of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. According to Kolesnikov, the two sides agreed that in addition to trade, they should develop also technologic cooperation.

Armenian economy minister Tigran Davtyan noted that the efforts of both governments should be directed not only to the increase in trade, but also to industrial cooperation.

" In terms of trade all the prerequisites are created – the legal framework, the free trade agreement, the procedures. We should work to develop industrial cooperation," he said.

Davtyan said the Armenian side is interested in cooperation with Ukrainian companies in the steel industry.

As of January 1, 2012 there were 83 enterprises in Armenia with the Ukrainian capital. According to the latest data, the volume of Ukrainian investments in the real sector of the Armenian economy at the end of January 2012 was $4.7 million; the amount of direct investment was $ 3.8 million. -0 -
