Upper Lars mountain pass opens for passenger cars

The Upper Lars mountain pass, Russia’s main border crossing with Georgia, has reopened today afternoon for passenger cars, Armenian ministry of transport, communication and information technology said.

YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. The Upper Lars mountain pass, Russia’s main border crossing with Georgia, has reopened today afternoon for passenger cars, Armenian ministry of transport, communication and information technology said.
According to Georgian authorities, at least 600 vehicles bound for Armenia, Georgia and other countries reportedly remained stranded on Monday due to heavy snowfall. Georgian authorities said the crossing will open Tuesday also for buses and trucks.
The Upper Lars crossing is landlocked Armenia’s sole overland conduit to Russia and Europe. The crossing is used by companies delivering goods to and from Armenia. -0-
