YEREVAN, November 22. /ARKA/. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Armenian government are launching a new five-year $8.9 million worth water management program.

The goal is to provide the country with quality and stable water resources, which will also contribute to sustainable economic development, according to a report by Armenian Public Television.

The new program calls for creation of model networks, installation of water meters on community water pipes and modernization of 10 observation points.

One of the expected results is improved supply of drinking and irrigation water to 20 thousand residents, particularly in the border regions of Armenia.

The program is regional, but of the neighboring countries only Georgia and Iran will cooperate. --0--
