YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. The Armenian Assembly Nongovernmental Organization and VTB Bank (Armenia) have signed a cooperation agreement to embark on a joint project of creation of a virtual card in Armenian Guide mobile application. Vahe Yengibaryan, the chairman of the board and co-founder of the Armenian Assembly NGO, said that Armenia Guide is a platform that is planning to become a living mechanism for attracting tourists to Armenia.
"VTB is not only strategic partner in this project, and we hope that we will manage to reach out to the most final client thanks to the wide client base and technologies of VTB," he said.
Ivan Telegin, CEO of Bank VTB (Armenia) and chairman of its directorial board, said that the inflow of tourists into Armenia is intensifying, and their number has already exceeded 2 million, and an average spending amounts to $880.
"This project is very important to us, since first of all, this is a very innovative product, and it gives an opportunity to the bank to attract new clients to the tourist industry," Telegin said. "The virtual multicurrency tourist card will be launched in the first half of 2020."
In his words, the technology is quite simple, digital, which is completely in tune with developments at the banking market - this is an opportunity of a remote provision of a card and identification of a client with a way to turn to the use of already real card.
The card, he said, gives clients an instant access to those services the product offers and new opportunities, which will depend on demand. The card also allows collecting bonuses. As a result, some services will become cheaper to clients in the future.
Speaking about currency conversion, Telegin said that tourists face this problem very often. "As a rule, tourists use foreign exchange points, very often in airports, where exchange rates are not always expected, while we in our application will offer a preferential foreign exchange rate, which will allow clients to save money and start their trips with a positive mood," he said.
The head of VTB Bank (Armenia) said that the bank has made the card multicurrency to make it possible to use different currencies without connection to the dram, ruble, dollar or euro and without opening new accounts. "The exchange rate is quite preferential, and clients can be careless of in which currency their accounts are opened, since they can use them in any of the four most popular currencies," he said. "The card is replenished very easy from any account of the client, and we are negotiating with payments systems to down or lift any commission to make replenishment easier."
Armenia Guide mobile application was launched in June 2019 as part of Armenian Summit of Minds.
The application shows the most interesting events, routs and sites of the country and contains a large database. VTB Bank clients can find hotels, guides, catering places and center providing services.
VTB Bank Armenia joined VTB Group in April 2004. VTB, the second largest bank of Russia, holds 100% of shares of VTB Bank (Armenia). VTB Bank (Armenia) is reckoned among leaders for general indicators. -0---
