Yerevan and Baku negotiating resumption of exports from Armenia
YEREVAN, January 9. /ARКА/. Yerevan and Baku are negotiating the possible export of aluminum foil, raw materials for aluminum foil production, ferromolybdenum, pet food, raw materials for cognac, cigarettes, and textiles from Armenia to Azerbaijan. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan stated this in an interview with Factor.am.
"There are Azerbaijani companies that have expressed interest in importing certain goods. The Azerbaijani side has provided a list of specific products of interest. We have sent information on the quantities we can export. Our list also includes roses, greenhouse products such as tomatoes and peppers. We have proposed an approximate price," Papoyan said.
The Minister of Economy has not yet specified the timing of the first planned export. He said this will occur after an agreement is reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani companies.
Papoyan previously reported that in 2025, 6,580 tons of grain, including 1,000 tons of Kazakh and 5,580 tons of Russian grain, as well as 1,210 tons of Azerbaijani gasoline, were transported to Armenia by rail through Azerbaijan.
As of January 8, 2026, 8,485 tons of Russian grain had been transported to Armenia by rail through Azerbaijan, with another 4,103 tons in transit. Additionally, 7,600 tons of Azerbaijani petroleum products, including 6,100 tons of gasoline and 1,500 tons of diesel fuel, are also in transit.-0-
