Yerevan municipality intends to spend $80 to 100 million on public transport system modernization
YEREVAN, November 4. /ARKA/. Yerevan’s public transport system is likely to undergo substantial changes, Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Time) reports.

According to the newspaper, microbuses will disappear from Yerevan streets – they will be replaced with big, medium-size and small busses and a single operator will run the public transport segment.

Vahe Nikoyan, Yerevan vice mayor, told the newspaper that a tender has been announced to choose a consultant for implementing the reform and that the winner is already known.

However, Nikoyan refrained from revealing the name of the consultant company saying that it will be unveiled later, after summarizing the tender results and signing a contract.

He is quoted by the newspaper as saying that these changes are estimated to cost 80 to 100 million US dollars. -0----
