Yerevan Thermal Power Plant’s substation under reconstruction now

The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant’s substation is being modernized and reconstructed now with support of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the press office of the Armenian ministry of energy infrastructures and natural resources reported on Monday.

YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant’s substation is being modernized and reconstructed now with support of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the press office of the Armenian ministry of energy infrastructures and natural resources reported on Monday.
The 220/110/35 KWt substation has been launched more than 30 years ago.
The modernization is expected to lessen failures at the substation operation and enhance its security.
Vardan Martirosyan, chief of the ministry’s division in charge of loan and grant projects, said the major part of the equipment has already imported, and the remaining part is on its way to Armenia now or is being prepared for shipment.
The Yerevan Thermal Power Plant was commissioned in 1965 and has never undergone any substantial repair since then.
The plant’s substation generates 20% of the country’s electric energy and services more than 1 million customers. -0----
