0.1% inflation in Armenia in September after seven months of deflation

Prices in Armenia went 0.1% up in September after seven months of deflation, the National Statistical Service reports.

YEREVAN, October 10. /ARKA/. Prices in Armenia went 0.1% up in September after seven months of deflation, the National Statistical Service reports.
Prices for foods, spirits and tobacco products shed 0.3%, while prices for nonfoods rose 0.2% and for services 0.6% in September 2016 compared with the previous month.
Unlike month-on-month indicators, year-on-year indicators still show deflation. The year-on-year index of consumer prices was recorded at 98.1% in September 2016 – food, spirits and tobacco index at 96.7%, nonfoods at 96.2% and services 101.4%.
The Jan-Sept 2016 year-on-year indicator shows a 1.6%.
Prices in Armenia started going downward yet in the second half of 2015, but the then adverse outside impacts on the national economy have been neutralized in some degree – 5.5 percent inflation in June 2015 subsided to 0.1 percent deflation in December. Prices continued going down also in 2016 showing 0.4% year-on-year fall in January, 1.7% in February, 2% in March, 1.9% in April, 2.1% in May, 1.1% in June, 1.3% in July and 1.9% in August.
In the government budget for 2016, inflation in Armenia is projected at 4% (±1.5%) and GDP growth at 2.2%. ---0----
