YEREVAN, November 26. /ARKA/. The RA Parliament has started discussing a bill on the salaries of the RA Prosecutor General and judges in its first reading.
RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Hambartsumyan said that, under the proposed amendments, the official salary of trial judges is to be set as a special budget item.
The Minister pointed out that the same principle will apply to the RA Prosecutor General.
Hambartsumyan said that judges’ monthly salaries will be raised up to 400,000 AMD ($1,440) in Armenia next year. The Minister said that the amendments are part of corruption control measures.
He pointed out that higher salaries will not resolve all the problems, but allow more efficient work to be demanded.
The Minister added that reforms of the second generation are being implemented in Armenia’s judicial system to improve its quality. –0--
