The Armenian and Georgian Premiers discussed a project of constructing a Yerevan-Batumi highway.
TBILISI, December 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian and Georgian Premiers discussed a project of constructing a Yerevan-Batumi highway.
According to ARKA News Agency, Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan stated at a joint briefing the question has been discussed at the sitting of the intergovernmental commission.
Sargsyan noted Asian Development Bank is developing a regional project with one of its components being the construction of the highway and the Armenian Government is assisting to that.
“We think ADB financed project will be implemented and the highway will be constructed,” said Sargsyan.
Georgian Premier Grigol Mgaloblishvili stated the financial issues if the project are being discussed.
According to the Armenian side Yerevan-Batumi highway can be opened in two years.
The highway will reduce the road from Yerevan to the Black Sea by 30%. Currently the Yerevan-Batumi distance is 700km and it will be reduced to 450km by the new highway. –0--
