Armenian government intends to alienate land for construction of Kajaran-Ararat section of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline
YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. Armenian Government decided Thursday to alienate land in three provinces for construction of Kajaran-Ararat section of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline.
Manuk Vardanyan, chairman of Armenian State Real Estate Cadastre Committee, told journalists that 7.1094 hectares belonging to individuals and legal entities would be alienated.
He said 73.8445 hectares in the province of Syunik, 45.064 hectares in Vayots Dzor and 20.8271 in Ararat were transferred into energy, transport and communication categories.
The idea of Iran-Armenia the construction of the gas pipeline emerged in 2004. Armenian government decided to construct the pipeline to receive gas also from an alternative source.
The construction of 186.3-kilometer Kajaran-Ararat section of the pipeline was launched in 2007 by ArmRosgasprom Armenian-Russian CJSC. Over $130 million has been spent for the construction.
For that purpose, ArmRosgasprom issued additional stocks in favor of Gasprom, which is the major shareholder of ArmRosgasprom (75.55%).
Kajaran-Ararat section will convey Iranian gas to the central part of Armenia to fuel thermal power plants.
Armenia will send electric power to Iran in exchange of gas.-0---
