YEREVAN, June 19. /ARKA/. Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has implemented programs on development of Armenia and NKR (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) for total of $165mln over 15 years of its activities, Executive Director of the Fund Naira Melkumian told journalists.

The programs facilitated restoration and development of infrastructures of Armenia and NKR, implementation of social, educational, scientific and cultural projects, she said.

According to Melkumian, the fund’s income increased up to $22mln in 2006, which is a $10mln increase against 2005. The Executive Director also recorded increase in the volume of works; particularly 54 major programs were launched in 2006. But minor programs are also considered, she said.

“The most important is that the projects are implemented at a rapid pace. The Fund works in those spheres where the state has no possibility to support yet and this has become a good tradition,” Melkumian said adding that rural development programs are to be started shortly.

Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was established in 1992. The Fund is to promote charity support and development of infrastructures in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. More than 463.8 kilometers of roads, 211.8 kilometers of water courses, 97 schools, 410 residential buildings and 34 medical institutions were constructed in the country through the Fund.

At its 16th sitting the Trustees’ Board of the Fund unanimously elected the Armenian Prime-Minister Serge Sargsian and Speaker of Armenian Parliament Tigran Torosian as new members of the Board. N.V. –0—
