South Caucasian railway intends to launch Armavir-Yerevan electric passenger train
YEREVAN, July 3. /ARKA/. General of South Caucasus Railway CJSC Shevket Shaydulin and Governor of Armenia’s Armavir region Ashot Kaghramanyan will launch Armavir-Yerevan electric passenger train on July 10, “Novosti-Armenia” news agency was told by the press-service of SRC CJSC. According to the company the decision was made during the meeting of Shaydulin and Kaghramanyan in Armavir on Wednesday.
During their meeting the sides summed up the works of a joint commission created a month ago for the development of interrepublican railway communication. Specifically, the parties agreed to launch passenger electric train on July 10.
According to Head of SCR Passenger Transportation Department Samvel Galechyan, transportation will take about 50 minutes. Transportation fee is oriented towards competition against automobile transportation: 300 AMD for Armavir-Yerevan-Armavir ticket.
Armavir-Yerevan-Armavir electric passenger train will run four times a day.
“Launch of the electric train will be a great assistance for our population, - Kaghramanyan said, - We have managed to reach good results in only a month. This is an evidence of high professionalism of the people working at the railway of Armenia.”
“The railway is an important factor in economic integration. We aim to bring RA regions closer to Yerevan to ensure business and population activity. At the same time all necessary conditions will be created in Armavir to attract people from all over Armenia,” Shevket Shaydulin noted, adding that SCR will manage to attract entrepreneurs’ interest to its extensive logistics chain.
South Caucasian Railroad CJSC is the subsidiary of Russian Railroads OJSC and has a concession to run Armenian Railroads state CJSC (AR). SCR registered in fixed assets AR’s rolling stock on June 1 2008, in accordance with the above mentioned concession to pass AR management for 30 years with a right to prolong for another ten years by mutual agreement. –0—
