YEREVAN, June 21. /ARKA/. Armenian authorities should make every effort to ensure the inflation rate planned in the 2010 government budget, Gagik Minasyan, chairman of the National Assembly’s finance and budget committee, said Monday at a news conference.
In the 2010 government budget, inflation is planned at 4% (±1.5%).
“We have one quite bad indicator – inflation rate,” the lawmaker said. “Of course, it went down slightly, but still remains far from the indicator planned in the budget. That is why the authorities should do whatever necessary to ensure the planned indicator.”
Minasyan thinks that the fact that inflation is subsiding, though slowly, inspires hope for better result.
“We had 8.8% year-on-year inflation last month, while now we have 7.6%,” he said. The National Statistical Service of Armenia says Armenia had 7.6% year-on-year inflation in Jan-May 2010.
The country recorded one-percent inflation in May, compared with April.
