Armenia and Russian officials discuss possibility of building sport bases Аrmenia
YEREVAN, July 17, /ARKA/. After talks with the visiting deputy Russian prime minister Alexander Zhukov Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian told local reporters that they discussed the possibility of building sport bases in Armenia that would attract Russian athletes.
‘I hope that the exchange of opinions and the talks will prove successful because our Russian colleagues are interested in implementation of these projects,’ he told during a joint news conference.
“The achievements made by Russian athletes who used to train at Armenian sporting grounds during the Soviet times confirm once again that from this perspective there is a good potential for development of professional sports, creation of spot bases both for professionals and amateurs,’ he said.
The Russian official said the Armenian side presented a project to build a sports base near the lake Sevan. He described it as very interesting that may create good conditions for effective training of athletes in alpine conditions. -0-
