Union of wine-makers: grape harvest in 2010 will exceed the indicator of 2009 by 20-30% in Armenia

YEREVAN, August 17. /ARKA/. Grape harvest in Armenia will be by 20-30% more in 2010 than in 2009, said the Head of Union of Wine-makers of Armenia Avag Harutyunyan.

Grape harvest will be 210-215 thousand instead of 85 thousand tons in 2009.

As for purchase of grapes, the situation is as the last year. Wine-growing is in crisis yet and wine-makers buy as much grapes as they need for wine production. To Harutyunyan’s opinion, crisis will end in October-November.

Purchase prices of grapes will depend on price policy of Yerevan Cognac Factory which already announced that will buy grapes by the price of 130 drams per kilo. The main part of grapes will be bought by the price of 110-130 drams per kilo and about 30% of raw-material – by 90-110 drams per kilo.

From 14-15 billion drams of 2009, the farmers would have paid for the grapes, but till now 200 million drams is not paid yet. The same situation will be this year. ($1 – 367.29 drams). --0--
