Armenia’s Median Wage in July Rises By 8.9% to 116, 476 Drams

Armenia’s median wage in July rose by 8.9% year-on-year to 116, 476 Drams ($318, €248 or 9,706 Russian rubles, the National Statistical Service reported, citing preliminary estimates.
YEREVAN, September 1, /ARKA/. Armenia’s median wage in July rose by 8.9% year-on-year to 116, 476 Drams ($318, €248 or 9,706 Russian rubles, the National Statistical Service reported, citing preliminary estimates. It said in July the median wage rose by 7% from June, when it was 108,856 Drams, that was in turn by 8.9% more than in 2009 June.
The highest median wage of 167,792 Drams was registered in the southern province of Syunik. The lowest was in Aragatsotn province – 74,986 Drams.
The highest median wage was boasted by mining industry - 312, 649 Drams. The financial and insurance sectors had the second highest median wage of 266, 769 Drams. Workers in IT sector had the third highest wage of 221,664 Drams. They were followed by construction sector with median wage of 153, 812 Drams. Electricity and natural gas workers received 145,185 Drams and government officials 121,633 Drams.
The lowest paid were culture workers (librarians, heads of cultural establishments) whose median wage was 57, 721 Drams. They were followed by public catering workers with 66,064 Drams. Medical workers received 69, 337 Drams. Fishery and agricultural sector workers’ median wage was 73, 639 Drams, education sector workers’ wage was 78, 635 Drams. ($1 – 363.74 Drams). –0--
