Analysis of water supply of 600 villages outside the service zone of the operating water companies is to be carried out in Armenia by the end of 2007, Chairman of the State Water Committee of Armenia Andranik Andreasian told.
YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. Analysis of water supply of 600 villages outside the service zone of the operating water companies is to be carried out in Armenia by the end of 2007, Chairman of the State Water Committee of Armenia Andranik Andreasian told a press-conference.

According to him, the study is done within the framework of cooperation with Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to facilitate the development of the infrastructure.

Andreasian pointed out that JICA representatives are involved in studying the problem of rural water supply. By the end of the year the program elaborated together with JICA on provision of drinking water supply to those villages will be submitted for the parliament’s approval, Andreasian said.

According to him, now it is early to speak of certain amounts, but the issue is being considered together with the Japanese Government.

Five water supply companies operate in Armenia currently – “Yerevan Jur”, Armenian Water and Sewerage Company (AWSC), Lori WSC, Shirak WSC and Armavir WSC. N.V. –0--
