Armenian custom officers will be trained in Ukraine

A group of Armenian customs officers will travel soon to Ukraine to have a training course, head of Ukraine’s State Customs Service, Igor Kaletnik, said today in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, October 28, /ARKA/. A group of Armenian customs officers will travel soon to Ukraine to have a training course, head of Ukraine’s State Customs Service, Igor Kaletnik, said today in Yerevan. Speaking at a news conference after the 52-nd meeting of heads of customs services from CIS countries, hosted this time by Yerevan, he said Armenia and Ukraine have signed protocols for reconciliation of their reporting forms and information details that will enable to raise the professional level of customs officers. He said there are three customs academies in the world, in China, Russia and Ukraine.

‘The World Customs Organization has opened a regional training center on the basis of Ukrainian academy and we are planning to have regular exchange of specialists,’ Kaletnik said, adding that the first group of Armenian customs officers will travel to Ukraine to have the course.

The greater part of goods imported to Armenia from Ukraine goes through Ilichevsk seaport to Georgian seaport of Poti and then to Armenia by trains and trucks. According to Kaletnik, the trade between Armenia and Ukraine has amounted already to $145 million this year, rising by 10% if compared to the same time span last year.

The main goal of the Yerevan gathering was to coordinate CIS customs services activities and harmonies their customs legislation. M.M. -0-
