YEREVAN, November 12, /ARKA/. A handbook of the International Labor Organization (ILO) for trade union members called Rights of Labor Migrants in Search of Decent Work was presented today in Yerevan.

Sandra Wermeiten, a chief technical advisor to ILO on defense of migrants rights in the Russian Federation and the South Caucasus, said the handbook was developed in cooperation with representatives of ILO member trade unions. She said the handbook is acquiring a special significance having in mind the growing volume of labor migration over the last 10 years.

The handbook is designed to help trade unions from different countries boost their contacts and protect labor migrants through legalization of their stay, raising their awareness of their rights and updating legislation.

She said an ILO project designed to raise the level of protection of labor migrants in Russia and help South Caucasus countries to increase development effect from migration is being implemented with the EU support. It started a year ago and will last for 18 months more.
