YEREVAN, November 19, /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Tigran Sarkisian who flew today to Russian St. Petersburg, to attend the meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Governments, attended also the meeting of the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) in which Armenia is an observer country along with Moldova and Ukraine.

The EurAsEC Interstate Council meeting was expected to take a decision on enforcing four documents that will form the Customs Union’s legal base. It was also expected to sign an agreement on the use of protective, antidumping and compensation measures.

The EurAsEC supreme body – the Interstate Council – develops integration strategies, areas and prospects. The Council meets at the level of heads of state at least once a year, and at the level of heads of government – at least twice a year. The Eurasian Economic Community incorporates Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Ukraine, Moldova, and Armenia have the status of observers.

Under the Bishkek resolution of heads of state of October 10, 2008, the Interstate Council is also a supreme body of the Customs Union. -0-
