Some 143.6 kilometers of roads will be repaired in nine provinces of Armenia under the World Bank’s program on rehabilitation of vital roads, Armenian Transport and Communication Minister Manuk Vardanyan said Tuesday at his meeting with Benjamin Gericke,
YEREVAN, December 7. /ARKA/. Some 143.6 kilometers of roads will be repaired in nine provinces of Armenia under the World Bank’s program on rehabilitation of vital roads, Armenian Transport and Communication Minister Manuk Vardanyan said Tuesday at his meeting with Benjamin Gericke, the head of the WB’s transport programs in Armenia.
According to the press report, rehabilitation of 130 kilometers is about completed.
Terms of other three agreements on rehabilitation of Metsamor-Gay-Hovtashat, Gagarin-Geghamavan and M4-Kakhsi sections expire in 2011.
The minister also informed the WB representative that a pilot project on improvement of road safety was under implementation in Gyulagarak village.
A program on preservation of road assets was discussed at the meeting as well.
Vardanyan proposed to include the idea of road safety audit in this program.
Vardanyan and Gericke also discussed the results of the session focused on problems related to local roads.
The session was held on December 6 on the World Bank’s initiative.-0---
