General Director: SCR should have break-even level

The main problem of South-Caucasian Railways cjsc (SCR) in 2011 is to reach break-even level, said SCR General Director Shevket Shaydullin.
YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. The main problem of South-Caucasian Railways cjsc (SCR) in 2011 is to reach break-even level, said SCR General Director Shevket Shaydullin.
In 2010, SCR performed budget parameters, provided stable and guaranteed work, satisfied the demand of the society and the population in cargo transportation by railway, implemented a number of investment activities and new projects.
By the results of 2010 the company provided growth of the main indicators. Growth of the conducted work was implemented on the level of 5.1%, cargo turnover - by 4.1% and parameters of passenger turnover - by 43.6%.
Due to effective management of expenses and human resources of SCR in the conditions of financial-economic crisis, price cost of cargo transportation was 98.4% versus 2009 which is low than the level of inflation in Armenia by more than 7% and working efficiency increased by 7.4%.
“Budget parameters approved by SCR Board of Directors will be targeted at the increase of profitability and income from all the types of activities by 16% in the condition of reduction of expenses versus 2009 – 99.9%”, said Shaydullin.
In the frames of the meeting priority issues of SCR for 2011 were defined. They are: development and implementation of medium-term program of efficiency increase up to 2015 in accordance with strategic issues of the company, quality increase of services and profitability of cargo transportation on the basis of improvement of scheduled transportation process, increase of route control of shipping, speed and reliability of transportation.
Special attention was paid to the share of railway transport in the market of passenger transportation, expansion of the specter and quality services on the basis of break-even activity, increase of the security level of transportation on the basis of improvement of content improvement, repair of the sites and rolling-stock.
Other priority issues of the company for 2011 are the development of social partnership in SCR, improvement of working conditions, development of international cooperation by advancement and implementation of commercially effective processes, strengthening of cooperation in the external markets.
Concession management of “Armenian railway” is implemented by CJSC “South Caucasian Railway” which is 100% affiliate of Open JSC “Russian Railway”. SCR accepted the railway stock of CJSC “Armenian railway” on its balance from June 1, 2008 according to Concession Agreement signed on February 13, 2008. The terms of concession management is for 30 years with the right of prolongation for another 10 years.-0-
