YEREVAN, January 24. /ARKA/. The State can check increase of prices for Russian gas in Armenia, considers member of opposition faction “Dashnaktsutyun”, deputy chairman of standing committee on financial-credit and budget issues Artsvik Minasyan.
At the beginning of September 2010 “Gasprom” announced about transfer to market pricing with Belarus, Moldova and Armenia and expected increase of prices for gas in the region in 2011.
Governments of Russia and Armenia negotiate on this issue. Representatives of ruling Republican Party of Armenia announce that authorities will do everything possible for bringing the problems of population to minimum in the result of possible increase of gas prices.
In 2010 opposition party “Dashnaktsutyun” suggested to establish temporary committee in the parliament which will conduct studies on the problems of gas supply in the country.
In 2010 by the initiative of “Dashnaktsutyun” working group was established which conducted its study of substantiation of gas tariff increase. But due to boycott of the ruling party discussion of this issue didn’t take place.
“We are intended to establish an expert committee in the nearest future”, said Minasyan.
Parliament deputy from the faction “Prosperous Armenia”, deputy chairman of standing committee on economic issues Vardan Bostanjyan said that the gas prices should be defined by the State.
Armenia and Russia have some appointments for changing the gas prices in a certain period of time.
According to the agreement about the delivery of Russian gas to Armenia from April 1, 2009 the gas price on the border was $154 for 1 thousand cubic meters including VAT for Armenia instead of earlier price of $110. From April 1, 2010 the gas price on the border is $180 instead of envisaged $200 for 1 thousand cubic meters.
By the decision of Public Services Regulatory Committee (PSRC) payment for one cubic meter of consumed gas for population increased by 37.5% to 132 drams (0.34 dollars) from April 1, 2010 versus operating 96 drams (0.25 dollars).
