YEREVAN, February 9, /ARKA/. Armenia’s labor and social security minister Arthur Grigorian has introduced today Artem Asatrian, a deputy minister, who was appointed Tuesday by prime minister Tigran Sarkisian as acting chief of the state social security service, to the agency’s staff.

The minister said Artem Asatrian has been working with the ministry for 10 years and is well known by all. He said Artem Asatrian is one of the officials who launched in 2010 a sweeping reform in Armenia’s pension system and this is why he has his share of responsibility for its successful enforcement.

The minister said an inspection last year revealed a great deal of violations in the pension distribution system He then said the problems must be exposed, discussed and effective solutions found.

“There are no insolvable probes. What we need is diligence and persistence,’ he said.

Artem Asatrian said he is well aware of the sector’s problems and will work hard together with his subordinates to draw a timetable of actions and ensure positive results.

The position became vacant after prime minister Tigran Sargsyan sacked Vazgen Khachikian in early January. No official reasons behind the dismissal were available, but according to reports in newspapers, Khachikian was dismissed after the parliament’s Audit Chamber revealed a long string of violations in the agency.  -0-
