Rosgosstrakh insurance company wins 36 percent of Armenia’s car insurance market

Rafael Minasian, vice president of Russian Rosgosstrakh insurance company in charge of business development, told a news conference in Yerevan today that its Armenian subsidiary, Rosgosstrakh-Armenia, has managed to seize 36% of car insurance market.
YEREVAN, February 16, /ARKA/. Rafael Minasian, vice president of Russian Rosgosstrakh insurance company in charge of business development, told a news conference in Yerevan today that its Armenian subsidiary, Rosgosstrakh-Armenia, has managed to seize 36% of car insurance market.
Rafael Minasian, who in Rosgosstrakh supervises Armenia related issues, said the strategic task to become number one company in Armenia has been achieved after the company sold 120,00 car insurances.
“Following this we have revised our strategic task which is now to retain the leading position,’ he said.
Rosgosstrakh-Armenia insurance company has already settled 350 cases involving car damages, having paid 55 million Drams as compensation. He said the frequency of road accidents reported to the company, suggests that it is going to have a great deal of a very tough job.
He said emergency agents work quite effectively arriving at the scene in 25 minutes to register the accident.
Asked to explain what was behind that rapid success Rafael Minasian attributed it to rich experience gained in Russia, Ukraine and Moldova where Rosgosstrakh dominates the car insurance markets.
The mandatory insurance against physical damage caused to other cars and individuals became mandatory in the country on January 1, in accordance with a government-drafted law passed by the Armenian parliament last year.
According to the government data, there are some 430,000 or so vehicles registered in Armenia. ($1 – 365.4 Drams). -0-
